Building
traffic to your site is important...
But traffic
without an effective web site it is worth little. Make sure your
site is optimized for visitors as well as keywords.
Keyword
research
Professional keyword research is a necessity for
search engine optimization and pay-per-click campaigns. While
some keywords may be obvious to everyone, there are hundreds of
keywords and key-phrases used to locate content on any specific
topic.
The following
illustrates the information you receive with our keyword
research.
Locating keywords: The first step in any keyword research
is to locate the most beneficial key words or phrases
(keywords). To accomplish this we use a process of "site
comparison". This process check hundreds of different sites
that rank high for a specific keyword. It then pulls in
"alternate" keywords from those sites. We then use a
thesaurus check to bring in additional keywords that may be
appropriate.
This process results in thousands of
different combinations of words. Our keyword team goes through
each of these thousands of possibilities to create a list of
"most likely" appropriate keywords for your site. This
list may contain hundreds of possibilities. We provide you with
this list to verify that you feel they are appropriate for your
site and business.
Once we have the revised list we
produce the following reports:
Keyword
Popularity
The keyword popularity report lists each of the keywords and an
"estimated" number of searches for each keyword from
our database of over 300 million web searches.
As an example of our Keyword Popularity Research, we did
a quick search of the keyword "hand bag". This
list contains just 100 variations of those we found. There
were many more. As you can see, web surfers use a lot of
different phrases to find the same information.
Competition
by Search Engine
This keyword report shows the number of competing sites for
specific keywords in up to 8 of the top search engines. While
the numbers are not precise they do give you an indication of
how hard it will be to get into the top listings for a
particular keyword on a particular search engine.
As an example of our Keyword Competition Research we took
our "hand bag" keyword list and did a competitive
comparison for one search engine. This
list contains the results.
Pay-Per-Click
bids
This keyword report gives you a list of the top 10 current bids
on Overture.
As an example of our Pay-Per-Click Research the
"handbag" example to produce a pay-per-click
competition and bid cost report for one pay-per-click engine.

Optimization
& Entry
Page Creation:
Optimizing web sites for search engines comes in
several flavors. One flavor that has had a great deal of success
is cloaking. Cloaking is the process of serving up
different web pages to the search engines than you serve to
human visitors.
This method can
get you high rankings in some search engines. It can also get
you removed completely from a search engines index if you are
caught and is not recommended by Web Transitions. NOT ONE OF THE MAJOR SEARCH ENGINES ALLOW CLOAKING AS AN
OPTIMIZATION OPTION.
Our method of
helping your site get ranked with search engines is to intelligently
build real content pages that are optimized for specific
keywords. This method produces content pages that both search
engines and site visitors can use and minimizes the possibility
of having your site removed from any search engine index.
All optimization projects include keyword research.
Estimated pricing for optimization is based on the keywords that
the site will be optimized for. Most of our customers opt for a
monthly budget. This allows us to spend a set number of hours
per month on the optimization. Generally, the monthly budget
rate will save you money over the long run.

Registration
with search engines: At this time we can find no reason to
register with any search engine. You will want to register your
site with The Open Directory Project (free), and possibly Yahoo
($300.00 per year) and LookSmart (fees vary). Our current
recommendation is registering with the Open Directory Project only.
NOTE: You may also want to consider getting your site
listed with the top "paid" directories for your
business type. Google has over 30% of all online searches and
likes sites with lots of incoming links.
