optimization was almost non-existent. If you created a new website you could almost
guarantee that it would be in the top ten results in the search engines…there
just were not that many sites. Now, when you do a search for any
specific key phrase you are likely to get over a million pages that are indexed
for the key phrase. With hundreds of thousands of new web pages going
online every month this shouldn’t be a surprise.

do at no additional cost.
There are a couple of things you should know
about these companies. Their method of optimization is simple…create
content…create web pages. If you don’t use cloaking techniques (which can get
you deleted from the search engine index if caught) content is the only way to
get any kind of ranking. Creating content is what just about every
optimization company does.
More importantly, you need to know that it isn’t
hard to get top ten placement for key phrases that no one
uses. It is a
little more difficult to get top placement for key phrases that actually do
you some good.
You need to understand that you DO NOT want
to use a company that guarantees top ten placement on a preset number of key
phrases.
Think about it. If a company guarantees top
ten placement for ten key phrases, do you think they will be more
concerned with making sure they are getting placement for the BEST keywords for
your company or just placement for ten key phrases
so they can meet their guarantee…whether or not they do
you any good?
If a search engine optimization company guarantees a minimum of fifty
thousand clicks over six months do you really think they care whether or not
those clicks are from valid potential customers?
Guarantees do nothing more than force the
contracting company to focus on meeting the guarantee rather than increasing
valid potential customers for you. In this case, a guarantee can easily
mean that you get a job that is less effective for your website than it
should be.
